The Wheatley Book Awards celebrates 40 years of Black Book Publishing and launches the Flora Nwapa Literary Award, hosted by NY1 television personality Dominic Carter and author Relentless Aaron. Music by the Tyrone Birkett Group.

Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture
The dress is business or evening attire.

Honorees in publishing include Haki Madhubuti; W. Paul Cotes; Kassahun Checole: Cheryl Willis Hudson and Wade Hudson ; and Tony Rose . The honoree in letters is Dr. Tess Onwueme, playwright, activist and scholar, who will be recipient of the first Flora Nwapa Literary Award.

This is a free fund raising event to support the Harlem Book Fair’s mission to evolve into an international Black World Book Festival so don’t forget your checkbook! All or part of your donation may be tax deducible.
