Celebrate With The Winery!

The Winery opened for business on August 17, 2007 and as we move toward our first year anniversary we are planning a fabulous anniversary sale and comprehensive tasting throughout the week. August 17 – 23, 2008 The Winery is offering 10% off on our entire stock and 15% off a case of 12 bottles or more. The success of The Winery would not be possible without the support of our community and recurrent patrons. The Winery has taken this into account and will be offering special VIP rates and gifts to those that have made this year possible.  Throughout the week we will be showing our appreciation by doing the small things that make a business become personable.

There will be extended tasting hours next weekend.  Friday August 22 we will start at 5pm and Saturday August 23, we will start at 2pm and concluded at 8pm for both nights.

We are almost complete with the design of our new online store, which will allow you to check inventory and purchase our products online. We are also looking to acquire a delivery service for those who don’t have time or the means to carry wine to their destination.

Lastly, we would like to apologize for the faulty phone service we are experiencing at The Winery.  The phone service has been on and off on irregular bases. If you hear a busy signal, try to call us again later or email to us. Thank you for your understanding.

Haggipavlu Aghiorgitiko Nemea Greece 2004
Fresh and spicy, this wine, made from rare Aghiorgitiko grape, shows a ripe, opulent style and smooth texture with great depth. Its color is brilliant ruby with unique leather and smoked green pepper aromas. Aged in French oak barrel, it is well-balanced, well-integrated with fine-grain tannins that last for ever on your palate.

The Albet I Noya family has been Spain’s leading organic wine producer since 1979. Featured Gems

Villa Gaida Suri Rosso Barbera d’Asti Piedmont DOC 2006

Brilliant ruby red in color with excellent clarity. The floral and red fruit nose assault the senses at arms length. Great red fruit and faint underbrush on the palate dominate this light bodied, easy drinking red. It is smooth with no tannic bite and maintains a good balance of acidity generated by the cooler northern climate.
Piana del Sole Primitivo Solento Pulia DOC 2006
Who could believe this grape, Primitivo, is the very same grape as notable California’s Zinfandale? Dark, rich flavors with a full of old-world charms. This is a good example of what French people call “terroir” can do to wines.
Azienda Agricola Ceraudo Petelia Calabria IGT 2005
Petelia is the ancient name of the Calabrian city known today as Strongoli. This wine shows an intense straw yellow color and is consistent and bright. Fine and intense aromas of almonds, honey and Mediterranean citruses give way to dry, mineral palate with complex layers of flavors. Great balance, silky texture and long lingering finish make this wine sophisticated and special.
Marenco Pinto Brachetto d’Acqui Piedmont DOCG 2006
Intense, heavenly nose of dark cherry and strawberries with a hint of cassis. Semi-sweet, yummy fruit flavors get a refreshing kick with tiny pearly bubbles. Serve chilled.

  • There are many wine stores, but this one is differently special. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, well edited selection of undiscovered wines and intimate and gorgeously designed store. Almost all wines are under $20, many under $10. Delivery service. What more would you ask?

  • Nobu and The Winery are BAD NEWS! They cannot be trusted. I just heard from a friend that the reason that Harlem Vintage petitioned against their opening is that NOBU enlisted HV’s help in researching the market. He even promised to open far uptown and away from HV. They actually helped him and the cut throat opens up 3 blocks away. That’s not the type of guy i want to do business with!

  • The Winery had its first anniversary this past week. We have worked hard to offer quality wines at affordable prices for all of us to enjoy. We are very happy that in the last 12 months we’ve received an overwhelmingly positive response from wine lovers and non-profit organizations in the community. We are committed to providing quality service and aligning ourselves with the positive development of the whole community.

It is despiriting to encounter an unproductive rumor that has absolutely no real base. This rumor seems to have no other purpose than hurting our business. However, I would like to emphasize that business competition is always good for customers. Competition is also good for us because it helps us to make improvements that ultimately serves the customer.

  • Not to go into details, I too heard the same story as is being repeated here, that Nobu, etc. spoke with Harlem Vintage before opening, and it was discussed that Nobu would be opening his “Winery” @ 135th etc. or the like.

To be specific and frank, Nobu “buddied up” to HV on the idea he would be opening his wine shop around 135th or upwards on the same street, then turned around and changed up AFTER speaking with HV.

In sum, Nobu is a piece of sh_t.

Hatlem Fur, I could be 100% wrong, I could be 100% on target. However it merits investigation. Specifically,

1). Did “The Winery” and or Nobu discuss being in the wine business in Harlem at any point?

2). Did Nobu represent himself to HV as interested for the purposes of opening much further Uptown.

From what I hear, Nobu f_cked HV plain and simple. This is something that’s black and white, talk to the owners of HV and ask them.

It matters from a stand point of integrity. I suspect The Winery is full of sh_t and a bunch of lying f_cks. I just would like to have them painted into a corner and forced to be honest.

I’m all for good clean competition, but that’s not what this is about. I want to know the measure & extent of the bull_hit, lies, and deceit of the Winery.

I say investigate this for the sake of how pioneers of gentrification (HV) can be targeted by those seeking to gain off their backs (The Winery).

  • The Winery is terrible! 2 years and the only name you could come up with is “the winery”? how can we depend on that type of creativty to bring anything new and fresh. It is cramped, the prices are higher than HV and Nobu and the other the guy that works there know nothing about wine. What were they thinking?
