Have you seen the street drawings by ”the chalk man”? He’s a Harlem elder with salt and pepper hair, and a gental manner. We usually see his work along Lenox Avenue in the mid-120th and 130th Streets. His drawings are filled with words of wisdom for both our youth and adults, bright pastel colors, accented with birds, clouds, and stars. Here’s some of his words:
Do you Believe?
Night Prayers are always good.
Save your soul.
Learn to have good manners.
Love yourself always.
Numbers are everywhere.
Learn them well.
I can read.
I can count.
I should always keep learning.
I must pay attention in class.
Children should learn to speak well.
Knowledge is part of this world (use it).
