Models of Color Sweep i-D’s September Cover!

idcoverIn April Chanel Iman tweeted about shooting a “MAJOR SURPRISE COVER” in London. Within a day Sessilee Lopez tweeted about “A MAJOR MOMENT IN FASHION,” also shot in London. As the tweets suggested, they were together, shooting the cover of September’s i-D alongside Arlenis Sosa and Jourdan Dunn, lensed by Emma Summerton. Fashionologie notes that i-D is “the first (and so far only) major fashion magazine to go with women of color for their September issue this season.” Hopefully Jourdan and Arlenis won’t let their Twitter feeds lie fallow the next time major shoots like this happen. Harlem Week

fonsworthHip-hop stars like Fonzworth Bentley, Papoose, Red Café, DJ Cassidy and Ron Browz filled New York’s Mount Morris Park Saturday at the Third Annual 135th St. Agency BBQ & Fish Fry in celebration of Harlem Week.

While DJ S&S spun the tracks, rapper Newz of The Inc. told Sister 2 Sister he’s been working hard on his debut album, Hunting Season, with his crew Block Gang and producer Chink Santana. He even gleaned some insight by watching boss Irv Gotti’s family dramas play out on VH1’s reality show “Gotti’s Way.”

“I learned to do the total opposite from [Irv’s relationship with wife Deb Lorenzo], nah mean?” Newz said. “A lot of ladies be coming down on my guy for that but, you know, he really just keepin’ it a hun’ed with his wife — tellin’ her the truth, which most men don’t do.” Continue reading

Jackson’s death ruled a Homicide

Jackson_PortraitThe Los Angeles County coroner has ruled Michael Jackson’s death a homicide, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press, a finding that makes it more likely criminal charges will be filed against the doctor who was with the pop star when he died.

The coroner determined a fatal combination of drugs was given to Jackson hours before he died June 25 in his rented Los Angeles mansion, according to the official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings have not been publicly released. Forensic tests found the powerful anesthetic propofol acted together with at least two sedatives to cause Jackson’s death, the official said. Continue reading

Dr. Dina StrachanI’m board certified dermatologist Dr. Dina Strachan.  I have over 10 years of experience helping my patients address a variety of skin problems using no-to-low downtime chemical peels. Chemical peels are one of the most popular procedures in my practice.  They take just a few minutes and results may be seen in as little as 1 week.  If you suffer from acne, acne scars, fine lines, blemishes, sun damage, razor bumps, or simply want a glowing, more youthful complexion, getting a chemical peel may be an effective, affordable way of addressing your condition.

WHAT is a chemical peel?  It’s a procedure in which a chemical agents is applied to the skin causing the top layer to exfoliate and stimulation of collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin.  The new skin is usually smoother, and has a more even color.  All of the chemical peels available at Aglow Dermatology are safe on all skin types.

New info on old Harlem cop case

Crime

The NYPD is about to release to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office “new information” regarding the infamous 1972 murder of Officer Philip Cardillo in a Harlem mosque, The Post has learned.

New details in the case surfaced as a result of Police Commissioner Ray Kelly’s move in 2006 to have the department’s Major Case Squad begin re-examining the chaotic events inside Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam Mosque No. 7 in Harlem on April 14, 1972, that claimed Cardillo’s life, according to NYPD spokesman Paul Browne.

A report is expected in about two weeks and “will be shared with the Manhattan district attorney to determine whether it is actionable in terms of prosecuting anyone in connection with Officer Cardillo’s death,” Browne said.
