The Health Department announced today that it is opening its weekend H1N1 vaccination clinics, which are primarily targeting school-age children, to also vaccinate two additional groups of New Yorkers who are at risk for H1N1 influenza. Starting tomorrow – Sunday, November 8th – the weekend clinics will provide H1N1 vaccine to anyone 4 to 24 years old. The clinics will also vaccinate pregnant women of any age.

The weekend clinics, launched today in all five boroughs, had vaccinated nearly 1,000 children by Saturday afternoon but had not reached their capacity. Because capacity was not reached the Health Department decided to extend the upper age limit from 18 to 24 and welcome pregnant women as well.

The weekend vaccination clinics will continue over five weekends in November and December. Each weekend vaccination center can accommodate up to 500 people per hour and will be open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but lines are possible. Anyone under 18 must present a signed parental consent form and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

People with computer access can find a weekend vaccine-clinic locator at nyc.gov/flu. Schedules and locations are also available through 311.
