A nation forgets its priorities: But in Harlem

One of our ongoing dilemmas is how important issues are pushed to the side by trumped-up inaccuracy and the counterfeit outrage peddled by irresponsible Republicans.

For example, when daunting reports are being released about how badly black students are doing in our public schools, one would think that New York could respond with documented successes countering that problem.

Schocker’s a Shocker in Harlem!

New York Philharmonic flutist, composer and pianist Gary Schocker and Richard Norton purchased a handsome brownstone at 215 West 137th Street in Central Harlem. The recently renovated, 19-foot-wide brownstone has a private garage. Mr. Schocker and Mr. Norton purchased the home from Vincent and Kim Van Doorn for the listing price of $2 million even. The four-story home is divided into a floor-through one-bedroom on the ground floor—ripe for renting—and the “owner’s triplex” above, which includes a butler’s pantry with its own Miele dishwasher and wine refridgerator.
