We just read a great article at Bloomberg Business Week about the 6 foot 4, Harlem jazz lover, wine aficionado and charmer Dick Parsons. Parson is not a Harlemite, but he has worked as a great Harlem ambassador saving more Harlem institutions then your average Harlem jazz lover.
Here’s afew choice selections:
- He works as interim chairman and fundraiser in chief for the Jazz Foundation.
- He was a member of the board of directors of the Apollo Theater in Harlem, and credited with saving it from disaster.
- And now, Parsons wants to revive Minton’s Playhouse, the Harlem spot where Monk Dizzy, and saxophonist Charlie Parker played after hours in the 1940s.
Now that is how you do it.
